The new use of the DB goods station area should promote the urban and economic development of Basel in the long term and open up new qualities for civic spaces. In addition to green and open spaces, 700 apartments and approximately 1000 jobs are to be provided. The concept, which has been developed under the guidance of Burckhardt & Partner AG in collaboration with stöckerselig, is based on the various spatial units of the new DB area, simultaneously defines periods that are to be linked with a model for participation and communication and fundamentally poses the question as to what a new city district is and what elements it should have to work as a place
